Questions

Can I try out a lesson before I jump in with both feet?

"Yes! I offer one free lesson to every prospective student. If we decide together that we're the right fit for each other, I offer a number of different lesson block options to fit just about any schedule."

I am not local, is that a problem?

"Absolutely not! I have successfully taught students all over the world using Skype. I have been using Skype since it first started in 2004."

What's your teaching style like?

"I use music that the student likes and teach them the content they need to play the songs. As the student progresses through more material, they learn more and more content and develop a vocabulary of chords. They learn to read notation by reading melodies and solos in the songs they’re learning.

I teach them technique and how to develop it using scales, modes, arpeggios and how to play them with a metronome."

What personal setup do you use?

"I play a custom-built guitar made by Jay Rhyne, with a custom Bartolini pick up system designed by Mr. Bartolini. To process my guitar sound, I use Guitar Rig, an Apple M1 Max, Pro Tools, Vienna Ensemble Pro with plug ins from Native Instruments, I K Multimedia, Omnisphere and several others. I use this as my live set up to produce anything from saxophones to full orchestra and horn sections for live performances."

Who are your influences?

"My influences include Hendrix, Page, Dimeola, Weather Report, Chick Corea, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and many others."

What do you bring to your craft?

"I read music and charts, and between practicing, teaching, playing, and recording, I have spent 70+ hours a week for the past 53 years with a guitar. I like to soar in the wind when I am playing."
